Without a strong foundation built on positive character traits, success will not long endure. It is virtually impossible to fake good character. Phonies are quickly spotted because they haven’t the substance and determination to maintain the charade.
Developing good character begins with a positive attitude, mental strength and self-discipline. Your desire to be a good, decent, honest, considerate person must first take place in your mind. When you make the decision to become a person of character, you will also find that you are much more willing to do the right thing simply because it is the right thing to do.
Mental strength as it applies to self-discipline is at the cornerstone of personal empowerment, character and personal performance.
Here’s a note on what Napoleon Hill had to say about self-discipline.
by Dr. Napoleon Hill
“Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you do not control your thoughts, you cannot control your deeds. Therefore, in its simplest form, self-discipline causes you to think first and act afterward. Almost everyone automatically does exactly the reverse of this. People generally act first and think later–unless they take possession of their minds and control their thoughts and deeds through self-discipline.
Control of the Emotions
Self-discipline will give you complete control over fourteen major emotions listed below. Seven of these are positive, and seven negative:
All of these emotions are states of mind and are, therefore, subject to your control and direction. You can see instantly how dangerous the seven negative emotions can be if they are not mastered. The seven positive emotions can be destructive too, if they are not organized and released under your complete, conscious control. Wrapped up in these fourteen emotions is power of a truly explosive nature. If you regulate it properly, it can lift you to heights of distinguished achievement. But if you permit it to run rampant, it can dash you to pieces on the rocks of failure. You should realize that your education, your experience, your native intelligence and your good intentions cannot alter or modify these possibilities.” – Source: PMA Science of Success Course. Pgs. 268 & 269
I want to point out line in particular – “You can see instantly how dangerous the seven negative emotions can be if they are not mastered.”
This is important, if not critical in moving forward in life. But what about all the situations where these negative emotions occurred, what’s a person to do?
In Huna this past negative emotions are described as “little black bags” that we carry with us in our body. And until we release them we will take them forward with us into our future.
Even if we begin to master thoughts and emotions from now on, we’re still carting these “black bags” with us.
This is where Time Empowerment® comes in.
With Time Empowerment® a person can systematically go back and release the original occurrence where one felt anger, sadness, fear or guilt (each emotion is released separately). When the origin of negative emotion is released all the subsequent occurrences of that emotion is released as well.
The feeling after all emotions are released is difficult to explain, but it comes close to “bliss.” The after the emotions are cleared mastery of them will be easier. Sure it will take mental strength and discipline and the payoff will be huge and reflected in your personal perfromance!
So…let me ask you, what’s your plan to naturalize your negative emotions? What has worked for you? Let me know in the comments below.
