This warrior mind podcast is in conjunction with Mental Strength Tip # 8 for Peak PerformanceWarrior Mind Podcast

There’s an old saying (and a song) that money makes the world go round.  I would like to offer that beliefs make the world go round, or go flat, or go rich, or go poor, or go (you fill in the blank)

When you look at the Warrior Mind Coach model of TFAR – Thoughts lead to Feelings – Feelings lead to Action (or not) and Actions lead to Results, its’ clear that when we can control our thoughts we can control our results.

But where do the thoughts come from?

Our beliefs!

So, by installing empowering beliefs these will automatically lead to empowering thoughts…well you see where this is going right?

Achieving peak performance and personal success begins with a mental strength mindset and empowering beliefs long before a person ever experiences success.

Enjoy the Podcast:

Warrior Mind Podcast

Who Ever You Think You Are, You're More Powerful Then That

The good news is you can work with more than one belief at a time.  And this is exactly what I do with my clients.    I’ll continue giving examples of what the average person and a mental strong person tend to believe about different aspects of their lives, i.e. peak performance, personal success, personal development, etc.   This almost always serves as a guide to higher consciousness and awareness about the supportive (or non-supportive) nature of a belief.

Final Thought

The practitioners of mental strength believe in their success long before they see it.  Their beliefs lead them to do what ever it takes to reach their peak potential. They operate their lives knowing their destiny is certain and in their control.  When they meet obstacles they rarely falter, knowing these are just signs letting them know they’re on the road to their personal success. Bumps are simply a sign and part of the journey.

Whereas the average person is shocked and stunned by setbacks, and many times quit right after the first obstacle.  The mentally strong expects these things to occur as part and parcel of their ascension to their peak performance. The mental strong know it all begins with a vision and belief system and then to take action and make that vision a reality!

If you’d like to get started on developing radical mental strength for personal development, personal empowerment or personal success, ask your Introductory Consultation.

Also, “Develop the Mental Strength of a Warrior” is a fantastic e-book that helps you develop awareness, consciousness and mental strength with a step-by-step plan.

OK…let me know about your thoughts on this subject in the comments below.

Success…ah yes…we all strive for it!  Whether it is in athletic pursuits, business, career, fitness, family or other athletic successpersonal undertakings we all want to achieve our own personal success.

In this post, I am going to take a different mindset and closer look at success.  In doing so, I hope to give you a different way of approaching your own “success activities” in an effort to enhance your opportunities and chances for personal success.

I’m going to look at two aspects of success.  They are:

1.  Clarify and individualize the definition of success

2.  Overview research on elite athletes to help show the factors that may influence athletic success.

Defining Success

There are some ways to think about and understand success.  How you define success will have a significant impact on how and when you achieve success.  According to Webster’s dictionary, success is a “favorable or desirable outcome.”  Sounds good enough right?

For most people, this is the definition of success is what they are after.  That is, we strive to meet a specific outcome, after all, isn’t that SMARTER goals are for.  Some of these outcomes might be bench-pressing 225 lbs 10 times, running a sub 30 minute Warrior Dash or simply losing 10 pounds.

What ever the specific outcome and we equate it to achieving success.  As a result, we consider ourselves a failure if we do not reach our “goal.”  Let me ask you, do you consider yourself a success even if you don’t achieve your goal?  Can a person be successful without achieving a specific outcome?

If we take a different perspective and widen our understanding and definition of success, we can improve our chances of achieving personal and athletic success.  The great and legendary UCLA basketball coach, John Wooden, takes a different approach to defining success.

He defines success as “peace of mind which is the direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” This definition is undoubtedly less “confining” because it focuses on effort put forth.  This approach to understanding success takes a unique mindset and removes the emphasis from the outcomes and suggests that success can be found through the process or journey. SIDE NOTE – this is at the heart of “positive motivation”, i.e. internist motivation.   Success can be achieved by anyone and is irrespective of the final outcome.  An individual would be successful if they committed to lifestyle changes necessary to manage her weight, regardless of the real numbers of pounds lost.

Were many of us get into trouble is our “double standards.”  We’ll watch the Special Olympics’ and comment on how every participant has achieved success.  Yet when it comes to our performances, if we don’t hit out goal, even though we have given everything we’ve got, we don’t consider ourselves a success.

Let me ask you:

  • How do you define success for others?
  • How do you define success for yourself?
  • Are they the same?
  • Is your understanding and interpretation of your own success inclusive such that effort and outcome are taken into account?
  • Does you definition of athletic success hold you back or support you?

Identifying Factors That Influence Success

Watch most elite level athletes perform, most of us shake our heads in awe at what they are able to do.  We often attribute the success of these individuals to being blessed with exceptional talent; genetically gifted.  After all, how else could they accomplish such amazing feats?

I remember reading an article awhile back about this question asked of numerous Olympians.  I can’t recall the exact study and in reviewing my notes, Olympians from 1984 to 1988 were asked to identify the factors that contributed most to their success.

While these athletes acknowledged “natural talent” as a factor influencing success (ranked #6), many other factors were ranked as more important.  Take a look at these factors and think about if these factors can help influence you as you strive for success and how you can apply them in your personal and athletic life.

The Top Success Factors of Olympic Athletes

1. Dedication and Persistence – The Olympians believe that these positive qualities had a significant impact on their success.

  • When you encounter obstacles, do you still persist?
  • Are you committed to the pursuit of your goals?
  • Are you determined to succeed…no matter what?

2. Support of Family and Friends – Success isn’t achieved alone.  A network of individuals provides degrees of support that the Olympians believed to be critical to their individual success.

  • Who provides support to you?
  • Who are the individuals you can rely on to provide physical or emotional support, to provide you with balance?

3. Excellent Coaches – (This is my favorite) Coaches provide much-needed expertise, knowledge, insights, skills, etc. needed in the comp is spent of goals.  Surround yourself with excellence.

  • Who are the coaches that can help you achieve your goals?
  • A personal trainer?
  • Nutritionists?
  • Business mentor?

4. Love of The Sport – The foundation of the Olympians athletic pursuits was a passion for their sport, i.e. a love for what they are doing.

  • Do you enjoy what you are doing?
  • Are you intrinsically motivated or do you need a push all the time?

I like to suggest you take time to consider what success means to you and look at the factors that you feel positively influenced your success.  Ask yourself:

Am I limiting myself by how I define success?

Are there areas of my life that need cultivating to help promote athletic and personal success?

As you ask and answer these questions, hopefully you will identify areas that can improve your success….if not…contact me, I will happy to assist you.

Some of this is discussed deeper in “Mental Training For Athletic Performance.”

If you really want to take your athletic performance up a notch, contact me our 3-Day, private one-on-one “Mental Training For Athletic Performance Intensive.”

Welcome back….I hope you’ve enjoyed this series so far.  In case this is you first visit I would suggest reading Part commitmentI and then Part II before venturing into this last section.

In Part II we finished by discussing “trying” and to summarize:

Mental Weakness = Trying + Doubt = Failure

Mental Strength = Commitment + Action = Personal Success

Everyone experiences doubt. Everyone is afraid of failure. It is a choice as to whether you are committed to it or to success. If you commit to yourself and you feel times of doubt or even failure, train yourself to see these as moments to learn from and then keep moving forward. You cannot use these moments of doubt to commit to another outcome – failure.

Remember, there is no failure, only feedback; it just might not be the feedback you’re looking for.

Also, it’s not possible to be committed to everything. You need to make up a list of priorities and commit to these. If you try to commit to everything, again we all know this is not possible so failure enters into the equation. Trying to commit to everything and then failing leads to feelings of anxiety, stress, feeling overwhelmed and guilt.

Again…it is not possible to commit to everything. We must make choices. Trying to commit to everything is a form of gluttony, being unable to say no, not wanting to let others down, scared that saying no may make you lose the one opportunity you might get. These feelings are all about a mentality of scarcity. Scarcity is where you think this will never come along again so you have to grab it. Scarcity is built around a concept of being scared. It is just another form of fear and then failure.

According to studies in psychology were able to keep on mind 7 +/- 2 “things.”  So, I would recommend that the maximum commitments you’d want to handle at onetime are 7.

Committing to success is fundamentally committing to yourself and this is the very first feeling of personal success.

And doesn’t that will feel wonderful!

Contemplation

List the number one priority in your life that you are committed to right now.

  • Should this be number one?
  • How will you work out if this should be number one or not?
  • Who is your support team?
  • Do you believe 100% in them and trust them completely to support you?
  • What are the ways in which your support team can support you?

Application

As human beings we are always committed to something. There is never a time, not even a split second, when we are not committed.

Now this is a big statement, so let’s test it.

You might say, “What about when I’m lying on the sofa watching television? I‘m not committed to anything then.” But I would reply that is exactly what you are committed to at that very moment: lying on the sofa watching television and doing nothing else!

Now let‘s dig a little deeper.

There could even be a stronger unconsciousness belief.

Consider this scenario: It is Saturday afternoon and you have a stack of work to complete by Monday. You know that to finish it on time, you will need to work on it all weekend. Instead, you’re lying on the sofa watching television. What might be your unconsciousness, in fact, your true commitment at that moment?

So you go see a coach and you and talk about this situation. You can‘t figure out why you have to work on weekends and you really don‘t like the company you work for. You even think your manager is uncaring and insensitive.

From my experience, the first step for me in listening to this story is that I cannot make any assumptions about this story or the outcome of it. I need to discuss with my client every statement they make. There are infinite possible commitments that may underlie their actions for lying on the sofa watching television, any commitment that they have not consciously chosen and unconsciousness belief that they may be committing to instead.

Of course, the challenge is that we are often not aware of what that unconsciousness belief is at the time. We have amazingly creative reasons for why we lie on the sofa and they always seem so “true.” We even make sure we have friends around us who agree with our reasons: “Oh, I know, it’s terrible the way they make you do all the work. You deserve a break.”

So, why bother to find these beliefs?

There is a lot of power in becoming honest with ourselves about why we do things the way we do. This is the key to living a powerful, peaceful, fulfilling life. Socrates said “the unexamined life is not worth living.” By examining the behaviors that we engage in and then discerning the beliefs behind them, we can decide whether these are the beliefs we really want in our lives or whether we want to make and keep other beliefs.

The opposite of living an examined life is living as a victim of life. You might say, “I’m not a victim here, it’s just that other people pull me down!” However, if you are not living a life that you have consciously chosen and are allowing life to carry you along like a piece of drift wood bobbing on the ocean waves, then you are not choosing the life that you want.

If you don’t know what you are committed to then this absence of direction will allow for others to tell you what they want.

This, my friend, is a guarantee for failure!

Following through on your commitments is powerful. It builds mental strength and confidence. It also builds trust in yourself and others will see and feel this as well. Once you begin to explore your unconsciousness beliefs and what you are committed to, you may decide not to change it. You may decide that your belief is not a problem and does not hold you back from reaching your personal goals.

This is fantastic to know!

The point is that by identifying your belief and what you are committed to, you have the power to change. The choice is in your hands. You are no longer living as a victim of life, but consciously, with mental strength, choosing your commitments.

My Experience

As you work with my client’s and move them through the coaching process and my coaching model, I need to support them in understanding what they want to commit to. This process will take time and it must be driven by my client. For me, this is an opportunity to explain the importance of having a vision, personal goals to work towards and to really supporting them in being aware of their beliefs.

My role is not to decide what beliefs are best for my client’s but rather the importance of aligning my client‘s beliefs with their pathway forward. Coaching is about working with my client to develop them. It must be about their development plan, not one they have been swayed to believe, by me or anyone. And especially not one that was told to them years ago by well-meaning people, instead it must be a conscious plan that they choose to make.

When you are working with your unconsciousness beliefs, be alert to your language. Your use of language will give you great insight into how much self belief you have. It will also help you to see how committed you are and how your language supports your personal success and not your failure.

Self Observation

One way you can support yourself is to see if your actions are aligned with your personal goals and your path forward. If your actions are aligned with your personal goals, then you’re committed. One way of creating this alignment is to put in place a structure. For example, if you  say you’re committed to spending time with your children and you end up spending 100 hours a week at work and come home after they are in bed, then you are only “trying, they are not “committed.”

If you are truly committed to your personal goals, personal success and your journey you will put in place a structure to make the time available. As a coach it is a great moment of observation and aid my clients in creating a structure for them to make their goal achievable.

My commitment to my client and their commitment to goals…I don’t run ahead of them trying to pull them along and I don’t follow them from behind trying to push them to their goal.  I travel with them side-by-side assisting them the entire way.

Reflections

  • What commitment do you really want to make about your personal goals?
  • What structures are you going to put in place to make sure that you fulfill your new powerful commitment?
  • What support can you put in place to help you when you notice that your level of commitment is slipping?

OK…I hope you found this series very informative…I enjoyed sharing it with you.

Achieving peak personal performance and creating personal power begins with a mental strength mindset and expectationempowering beliefs.  Reaching your personal goals starts in the mind and finishes with peak performance…taking massive action.

This is one in a series of mental strength life coaching tips to help start your week of strong so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

I take one subject and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct questions.  The intention of this virtual ‘life coaching’ session is for you to write the questions in your success journal and then reflect on them and write your answers and thoughts in your journal.

These series of posts are for YOU!  If I’m not able to coach you personally one-on-one over the phone or in The 2nd Passage, I want you to at least get the benefit of a “virtual” mental strength coaching session.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you understand and develop the mindset that you get what you expect and to urge you to use your mental strength and build your belief system of great expectations for personal success.

Let’s Get Started:

Quantum physics states that we are literally creating our reality and results directly from our thoughts.  Quantum theory suggests that everything at its core is energy, and energy can be manipulated by thought.

Energy flows were attention goes and results show.  If you expect something good to happen, mostly likely it will.  If you expect to reach your personal goals….you will.

“High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.”

- Charles Kettering

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do you believe you can influence your results by changing our expectations?
  • How does improving your expectation help you meet your personal success?
  • How often do you use your mental strength and raise your level of expectations?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Expectations

  • Expectations have no impact on my results and my personal success.
  • It’s impossible to raise my level of expectations, I either expect something or I don’t
  • High expectations lead to disappointment.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Expectations

  • Positive expectations lead to positive behavior and personal success.
  • High expectations move a person into a higher vibrational frequency which makes them more attract to others.
  • Raising expectation is a skill that can be learned.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you have high quality expectations way aren’t you getting better results?
  • How are you actively using your mental strength to raise the level of you expectations?
  • Give ma an example of something good you expect to happen that you couldn’t imagine expecting five years ago.

Reflective Questions:

  • How would you rate your positive expectations?  Average or top performance.
  • How have your expectations helped or hurt you in the past?
  • Write down an example of a positive expectation you have recently expanded upon.

Mental Strength Coaching:

Keep in mind that most people have never given much consideration to expectations and how it affects results. So it may take some time for this topic to sink in and take hold.  Use your mental strength and take it step by step, knowing that some people must experience personal success with a new idea before it becomes integrated into their belief system.

Final Thought

The impact of positive expectation on your subconsciousness mind cannot be overstated.  Positive expectations are a mental strength skill that can be learned and utilized by anyone.

“Don’t lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality.” – Ralph Marston

Achieving peak personal performance and creating personal power begins with a mental strength mindset andmental strength conversation empowering beliefs.  Reaching your personal goals starts in the mind and finishes with peak performance…taking massive action.

This is one in a series of mental strength life coaching tips to help start your week of strong so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

The art of conversation is not a simple handshake, a smile and start talking. There are several steps that a mental strength practitioner uses in creating an artful conversation. When a person knows, and has mastered, the steps… well…that’s when they can have an influential conversation with anyone.

Have you ever thought about how some people tend to get what they ask for, or are always at the center of attention or get more accomplished with the little effort? At the core it’s about how proficient and artfully they communicate with others AND with themselves.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • How important is developing you conversational skills in achieving you personal success?
  • Do you believe most high achievers possess great conversational skills?
  • Can the art of conversation be developed, or do you have to born with the gift of gab?

  • How would you rate your conversational skills, on scale of 1 -9, 9 being best?
  • What would it take for you to become an artist at conversation?
  • Is there a direct link between your conversation skills and the manifestation of your personal vision?

Reflective Questions:

  • Who is the most influential conversationalist you’ve ever met and why?
  • What are your best and worst traits as a conversationalist?
  • Do you have a plan of action for becoming proficient in the art of conversation?

Mental Strength Coaching:

My goal for this virtual life coaching session is help you understand that your conversational skill is one of the most critical aspects for your personal success. I’d like to make a powerful request of you and have you develop an action plan that will enhance and move your conversation skills from average to elite.

Final Thought

This virtual coaching session might be the one and only time where you are exposed to and have the opportunity to consciously look at and take steps to improve your conversation skills.  This is one of the most critical, yet overlooks secrets to achieving your personal success.  Not only how you converse with others, but also to yourself.

Achieving peak personal performance and creating personal power begins with a mental strength mindset and personal successempowering beliefs.

To see where you stand and how dedicated you are to your field or work and your profession. To find out how much you rally believe in what you’re doing, and are you using your dedication to influence others.

Let’s Get Started:

This virtual coaching session is getting to your level of dedication in your profession and your industry.  They are two separate entities.  Your profession is what you do and your industry is where you do it, i.e. your profession is sales, the industry is high-tech.

So as we go through this virtual life coaching session try to a feel for how much you believe in:

1. Your profession

2. The industry you’re in

And the positive impact both have on your clients and customers.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • How important is the level of dedication to your success in your career?
  • What role do you believe dedication plays in your personal success?
  • How does a person develop a deeper level of dedication?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Dedication

  • Strong dedication is for ministers and sales professionals.
  • You’re either dedicated to something, or your not.
  • If I take a stand on something, people won’t like me.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Dedication

  • Deep dedication can be developed.
  • All leaders hold a strong sense of dedication.
  • Dedication is what empowers people to take action and reach their personal goals

Outrageous Questions:

  • What do your results in business and life reflect about your level of dedication?
  • How dedicated are you in the profession and industry you’re on right now?
  • Do your colleague’s or customers see you as a leader with dedication?

Reflective Questions:

  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being the strongest, how would you rate your level of dedication toward the product of service you are representing?
  • What career would create a stronger sense of dedication for you?
  • How can you increaser your level of dedication in your current role?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Remember that most people don’t hold a very string sense of dedication about anything, including their life’s work.  The masses are encouraged not to get too excited about anything for fear they will be disappointed. Talking about dedication is often new a new subject for most people, as it flies o the face of what they been conditioned to believe.

Dedication comes naturally in some cases, but can also be developed through mental strength training.  Strong dedication has the power to alter a person’s beliefs and behavior.

My job as your virtual life coach, is make sure you understand how important a deep dedication is toward your personal success, how to develop more of it and how to use it as tool of ‘influence’ to reach you personal goals.

Final Thought

Coaching around and understanding the power of dedication has the power to catapult you into peak personal performance.  Dedication cane be coach…and dedication can be built, the question is….are you ready?

Well here we are…almost to the final installment of “Creating Action for Personal Success.”  One more post after this. inner strengthIn my opinion action is the key ingredient for personal success.

As individual can set personal goals, develop affirmations and visualize ever day, but unless they take some from of action, little to nothing is going to happen.

Over the past several installments we’ve discussed a myriad of topics related to action and personal success.  Today I’m going to finish up with…

Recognizing Action

Remaining in action is fundamental to achieving persona goals and personal success. When I coach, at the beginning of every relationship I make it crystal clear that I expect them to be in action. I am sensitive in regards to how much action is enough…and sometimes ask for a bit more…well this is mental strength training after all :-) .

As you work towards your personal goals, what might seem like a small step could actually be a huge leap in moving forward….don’t under estimate any action your take. A shift in thinking could be the most substantial achievement that you make.  I

I know sometimes that steps that I consider challenging, my client will move through easily. In order for movement to be sustainable, you need to move at a pace that is challenging but manageable for you.

When it comes to action, the three most powerful tools are acknowledgement, acknowledgement and acknowledgement! Also acknowledgement is essential. And did I mention how important acknowledgement is?

Get the picture?

The most powerful way to encourage action is to acknowledge it when it occurs. Simply by looking at how far you have come, or how well aligned you actions are, can be a fantastic motivator to continue in your path of growth. Many of my clients don‘t realize how far they have come until I point it out to them. This, I feel, is a extremely powerful service offered by me…and other coaches as well.

Often I am the only person in my client‘s life who acknowledges their growth. Similarly, I am often the only person who knows about their most important goals. Having someone acknowledge how far you have come can make the journey seem light and full of joy.  For my clients this ensures that they get the very most out of our coaching relationship.

Contemplation

  • What is the role of action in professional or personal life?
  • What do you think are the advantages of asking others for specifics of their actions?
  • Think about a personal goal that you have set for yourself in the past that you achieved – What were the factors that allowed you to achieve that goal?
  • What role does acknowledgement play in taking action?

Enhancing Strengths

The next step is to take is to discover your personal strengths. Most people are aware of their weaknesses, but have not thought too much about their strengths. They may even take their strengths for granted; or believe that because they are good at something, so is everyone else. This may then lead them, and you, to assume that their strengths are not really special.

There is a great site to take such an inventory.  The site is Authentic Happiness and it’s based on Positive Physiology.  When you to the site – Authentic Happiness – register and then take the “VIA Survey of Character Strengths” assessment.  This measures 24 Character Strengths.  It’s a fantastic assessment and best of all….there’s no charge!  There are a few other great assessments there as well, but the “VIA Survey of Character Strengths” is the best place to start.

As you proceed to create action in their life it will be important to draw on the strengths they have when things become difficult. For example, in the process of working on their action plan, you may forget what your strengths are if the process becomes difficult or discouraging.

As a coach, it is up to me to remind my client’s that they have the power within themselves to complete what they desire. I support my client’s to draw upon their strengths in order to move forward. During this process of awareness and growth my client’s, the techniques of ‘encouragement and endorsement’ are invaluable.

I’ve discussed these techniques in previous post and I encourage you to use them in your professional and personal life as well.

Focusing on your weaknesses doesn‘t support or encourage you to move forward, however, it is important to be aware of them so that they don‘t get in your way. It is more effective for you to think in terms of “distractions”, “barriers”, challenge” and “roadblocks” rather than “weaknesses”.

The term “weakness” implies an inherent flaw in a one’s make-up. The terms “distraction”, “barrier”, “challenge” and “roadblock”, on the other hand refer to short-term situations. They don‘t sound immovable. They sound manageable. They are not general statements about you. They only exist in relation to your strengths.

The problem with a traditional analysis of “strengths and weaknesses” is that it gives weaknesses the same status as strengths and implies that people should be working on them simultaneously. In a persons mind, however, any focus on weakness is bound to amplify it. People will remember criticism long after they have forgotten praise.

Research indicates that when asked to recall important emotional events, people will remember four negative ones for every positive one. (Roberts, et al, 2006) What this means is that in a traditional analysis of strengths and weaknesses, clients are getting four times as much information focus on weakness as strength!

As a coach I need…no I must provide a counterbalance to this negativity. And you can do this as well for your coworkers, friends and family.

A more constructive approach to helping others (and yourself) is to ask the person to focus on their strengths and set goals that build on their strengths. Only after a person’s strengths are thoroughly explored should attention turn to distractions, barriers, challenges and roadblocks.

As you develop your strength inventory you may also want to make a list of three things that may create a distraction, challenge or even a roadblock, as you move along their action path towards your personal goal. For example, if you want your working life to be more peaceful, a distraction may be:

  • Being chronically late
  • Clutter Draining relationship

Often, what support’s you to take action are not the things they add to your life, but rather the things you take away from your life. When I work with my clients I prepare them in creating an action plan to remove what is getting in their way and preventing them from being successful.

By removing the roadblocks – before they create a problem – this will help you in the long run. Take some time to think about strategies that can remove barriers.  I always ask my clients how I can coach them when these obstacles do appear. This ultimately creates a structure for providing powerful coaching.

In my complimentary report “7 Powerful Secrets to Creating a Warrior Mindset” I go over in more detail about The 6 mental strengthLaws of Mental Strength and how they affect your personal success.

I’m going to give an overview for those that have not read the report yet…and a review for those that have.

I find it helpful…at least for myself, to go back and review these laws on a regular basis’s.  You see whether you are aware of these laws or not doesn’t matter…they are still at work in your life and have a tremendous effect on achieving your personal goals and reaching peak performance in your area of interest.

These laws are like any other Natural/Universal Law, you can’t see the “law”, but you do see the result of the law…the affect.   Remember, just because you can’t see gravity doesn’t mean it’s not affecting your life.

So here are The 6 Laws of Mental Strength

  1. Thoughts are Things and Energy – This has been proven scientifically.  We have EEG’s, brain probes and other scientific instruments to read the energy in our thoughts.  So think about this…if thoughts are real energy – which they are – what else in nature is real energy?  Electricity, moving objects (kinetic energy), objects resting (potential energy), heat…etc.  All these have energy and with they can be use constructively or destructively – how are you using your thoughts?
  1. The Mind is Like a Radio Station – Sending and Receiving Thoughts All The Time – Just like a 2-way radio can both transmit and receive our mind also sends and receives thoughts.  If you tune you radio to a specific station, let’s say the news.  You’ll receive all the messages about disperse and tragedy.  If however you focus or “tune” to a station that has a bit more uplifting message, that’s what you’ll get.  The key here is you receive what you are tuned into receiving.  The opposite is true as well.  If you are constantly worried about sickness, disease and poverty you will be sending out those messages and someone who is “tuned” to that same station will connect with you.  And you wonder why you’re surrounded by such negative people?  What station are you tuned into?
  1. Thoughts that Thought With Emotion are Magnetized and Attract Like Thoughts – Ever wake up in the morning and stub your toe?  How was the rest of the day?  Not so good right?  This is because as soon as you stubbed your toe your mind was flooded with all sorts of non-supportive thoughts (to having a good day).  One thought lead to another and to another…and so on.   This happen when we get into an argument with someone.  The thoughts we think (during this high energy exchange) attracts all sorts of negative thoughts from the past.  The problem is that we do this with ourselves internally. We can have a thought of “How am I going to pay the bills” If this thought has enough emotion behind it, it will cascade into many, many, many other negative thoughts.  The good news is the opposite is true as well.  Stop for a moment and think of a puppy playing around.  Did a smile come to your face?  Did other “kind and gentle” thoughts follow?  Well unless you don’t like puppies I suspect you did, didn’t you?  So….which thoughts do you want to energize?
  1. You are Always Experiencing Thoughts, You Can Either Accept Them or Dismiss Them – This law is about personal power.  You and only you are the thinker of your thoughts.  You and only you are the receiver of your thoughts. If you don’t like the thought….throw it away.  They are your thought for gosh sakes!   This law is SO crucial for personal success…this law is about taking responsibility for your thoughts, actions and results…after all thoughts are real energy right?
  1. You Have the Power and Ability to Think any Thought You Want  – This law dovetails  right into the preceding law.  If you don’t like the thoughts you are thinking…think different ones.  You are the thinker of the thought…you are the dreamer of the dream.  Make it a magnificent one!  As the last two lines in the poem Invictus say “I am the master of my fate:  I am the captain of my soul.”
  1. The Inner-World and Outer-World are Connected and You Live in Both at The Same Time – We have the Inner world of thoughts, emotions, beliefs and values, judgments  and the Outer world of circumstances, effects, results.  Our Inner world absolutely affects our Outer world …thoughts are real energy.  And we know that our Outer world affects out Inner world.  We all have experienced some news over the past month that created an undesirable emotion and feeling within us.  We you think about achieving personal success on the Inner world and think it with emotion…we get success in the Outer world.  When we get personal success in the Outer world we think and feel success in the Inner world.

So now you have a basic understanding of the fundamental mental strength laws…how are you going to use them?

Contemplation:

I’d like to give a few contemplation exercises for this week.  Contemplation is when you sit and think about a single thought and it’s implication to your life.  You take one single idea and look at it for every angle, turn it around, upside down…you take this thought and deeply think about it’s implication on your life.

I would suggest as a personal goal to one of these thoughts per day and spend at least 3 times a day for minutes of 5 minuets sitting in contemplation.

  • I have a remarkable instrument of power (your mind) that is changing my life now that I’m learning how to use it.
  • My personal vibration determines the conditions and situations that happen to me and my beliefs create my personal vibration.
  • My power to think thoughts is my power to create my life & I have the power to think whatever thought I choose.

By taking time contemplate the above ideas you will start a new way of thinking. And when you think differently, you act differently…and when you act differently you get different results.  And you do want different results don’t you?

If this post a created a sense of empowerment, hope and anticipation to create your personal success and a more empowering way to live, pick up a copy of “Develop the Mental Strength of Warrior.” It goes into much more detail with exercises and tips on how you can control your thoughts…hence your life.

Much of my education on mental strength comes from many sources including NLP, 9 Gates Mystery School, John Kehoe, Science of Mind, Book of 5 Rings and numerous other areas. The interesting thing about “personal development” is that much of the material has been covered over and over, just put into different “packages.” I hope that my repackaging will aid you.

Achieving peak personal performance and creating personal power begins with a mental strength mindset and personal performanceempowering beliefs.

This virtual mental strength coaching session is to encourage you to look at your capabilities and competence in your selected field and then see where you can enhance them.  To help you focus your mental strength energy on developing peak performance capabilities in your areas of expertise.

Let’s Get Started:

When you take an inventory of your capabilities compared to those that are achieving peak personal performance and personal success, how do you stack up? It’s important to use a role model that is achieving the personal success you want or more.  This is help you stretch and grow, not to point out your weak areas.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • How important is possessing peak performance competency to achieving your personal goals and personal success?
  • How do you think a person develops greater competence in your position?
  • What do the top achievers in your field do to continually increase their level of competence and capabilities?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Competence

  • Success is about luck, not competence.
  • Success is about whom you know, not the level of capability.
  • I have peak performance competence in my area of expertise, but I’m still getting average results.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Competence

  • Peak performance competence leads to achieving personal goals and personal success.
  • The more competent I become the more I’m worth to people and companies.
  • Great capabilities and competence come from apply mental strength to continue to study and experience.

Outrageous Questions:

  • On a scale of 1 to 9, 9 being the highest, how competent are you in your profession?
  • How competent are you compared to people you respect most in your line of business?
  • If you level of competence continues to improve at its current rate how long will it take to you reach peak personal performance and personal success?

Reflective Questions:

  • What step have you taken in the past to increase your capabilities and become more competent in your profession?
  • What actions could you take in the next 90 days to dramatically enhance your level of competence?
  • How can I assist you in increasing your capabilities and becoming more competent so that you can reach your personal success?

Mental Strength Coaching:

The goal here is move you into objective reality in relation to how competent you are in your profession, especially compared to individuals with peak performance.  Remember that many people overrate themselves in term of capabilities and competencies.

Individuals who believe they are already great tend to coast, and disregard the attempt for greater levels of competency.  Results are the final measure.  Emotion skews many people self-evaluation, but results are impossible to contest.

Final Thought

Mental strength coaching around capabilities and competence is a critical starting point in reaching personal success.  Only when you are operating from objective realty is it possible to understand and to be coached to the next level of competence in you profession or area or expertise.

If you’d like to get started on developing a rock solid mindset for personal power,  peak human performance, goal setting or achieving your personal goals request your Introductory Consultation today!
