Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you comprehend the importance of ethics in achieving personal success.

Let’s Get Started:

While some individuals try to get by doing as little work as possible, others possess a dedication that leads them to give it their all every day. People who possess a strong work ethic embody certain principles that guide their work behavior, leading them to produce high-quality work consistently and without the prodding that some individuals require to stay on track.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do you believe it’s possible to work more than you’re compensated for?
  • Have you ever worked less because you believed you wouldn’t be compensated for your addition efforts?
  • What does mental strength work ethic look like?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Work Ethic

  • Working more than you’re paid for is stupid.
  • Believing that extra effort at work will eventually be noticed is naive.
  • No matter how hard you work, employers and customers will always want more.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Work Ethic

  • You will always be compensated for a mental strength work ethic.
  • A mentally strong work ethic is the foundation of personal success.
  • Work ethic separate the top performers from the “also ran’s.”

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you were more focused on your work would you be more successful?
  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being best, how would you rate your work ethic?
  • How would your friends and family rate your work ethic?

Reflective Questions:

  • What would you have to let go of in order to enhance your work ethic?
  • Is your work ethic more average or inline with top performers?
  • Do you believe your personal life would suffer if you enhanced your work ethic?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Work Ethic seems to be universally accepted as one of the most important factors contributing to one’s success. The harder you work – the more successful you’ll be. “Do a bunch by lunch…be a winner by dinner!” ~ Unknown.

And in this day and age, with so many things spiraling out of control and leaving us in tougher and tougher economic situations, it can feel good to get a grip and take charge over at least one aspect of our current situation that can have a significant impact on our future success. Although not necessarily easy to control, with the right mindset, the right map, and the right mantra you’re sure to get to where you want to be a heck of a lot faster than from laying down, eating leftovers, watching Law and Order: SVU. Remember, “The most practical, beautiful, workable philosophy in the world won’t work – if you won’t.” ~ Unknown.

Final Thought

I’m not saying that breaks are bad. But, when you can align your life passion with purpose and perseverance, the lines between ‘working’ and ‘playing’ dissolve and become one ever-flowing part of your life. Find your passion, work extraordinarily hard on it (without really ‘working’), and take control of your future successes!

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To encourage you to build and use a support teak to provide a mental oasis on the way to creating a life of power, purpose and passion!

Let’s Get Started:

It’s hard to live in this world and achieve all the things you want to achieve. The best thing you can do is to make sure you have a lot of tools available to help support your dreams. This network of support can make all the difference in whether you succeed or fail.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What role does a support system play in your pursuit of success?
  • Building an emotional support team is a sign of ___? (fill in the blank)
  • What role has the emotion support of others played in your life?

Unsupportive Beliefs about a Support System

  • Emotional support is for weak people.
  • Emotional support is for unstable people.
  • I don’t need a support system to succeed.

Mental Strength Beliefs about a Support System

  • Your support team is your emotional pit stop.
  • Support isn’t a necessity, it’s a strategy.
  • Utilizing a support system gives you an emotional oasis.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you were using a support system more often would you be moving toward your vision at a more consistent pace?
  • What limiting beliefs would you have to change in order to embrace a support system?
  • How could you use a support system more effectively in the next 90 days?

Reflective Questions:

  • Are you allowing yourself adequate time to recharge yourself emotionally?
  • What activity could you plan with your support team in the next 30 days that help recharge yourself?
  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being most, how often do you utilize your support system and team?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Having a support system is incredibly important if you want to get anywhere in life. You can only do so much on your own so you’ll want to make sure to surround yourself with others. You’re not limited in your options, so you’re sure to reach your goals as soon as possible.

Final Thought

The very first on your ranking of support should be family. Family members are the number one method of support because they know where you’re coming from. They also love you and want to help you do everything you want to do in life. (And if they don’t, they should!)

Each family member serves a different purpose in your life. A mother or father might nurture you and pad your falls. A child will help you to see the reasons why you’re working so hard. A spouse can help you in all that you do. They are usually your number one supporters.

Even though family is great you’ll also want to include your friends. While they may not know you as well as family (or they might know you better than family in some cases!), they can still add a lot to your support system. Friends are helpful because they might even have the same goals that you have. For example, if you’re exercising you can call a friend up to come join you.

Friends don’t even have to live in the same town that you do. In this day and age more and more people are making friends on the Internet. Location is definitely not an issue when you consider the Internet lifestyle. Even if you’re going through a particularly difficult time there’s probably someone, somewhere going through the same thing.

Joining online forums and chat groups can do you a lot of good in this case. Getting things off of your chest can feel great. This is even true when you don’t know the people at the other end of the computer screen. In fact, developing such a wide network of support can help to load you with all the help you’ll ever need.

If you want to include even more support in your network of success you can always join a program. There are different programs out there for everything under the sun. This includes anything from weight loss to money management. These programs can be found in your local town as well as online.

Of course, when you’re considering support networks you can’t forget yourself. You alone know yourself the best. Keeping a journal can be a great way to organize your thoughts and develop your own methods of support. Don’t forget to write in your journal each and every day so that you’re able to keep a record of everything you do to reach your goals

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!success and character

Living a life of power, purpose and passion….with perseverance is walking the path of the Awakened Warrior.  This path encompasses physical, emotional, spiritual and mental.  The mental requires a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs that will instill the feeling of empowerment.

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

This is one in a series of virtual personal coaching and mental strength tips to help kick-start your week.  It is intended to create self-empowerment and inspire you to take action so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

These series of posts are for YOU!

If I’m not able to be your live personal coach, then I highly recommend picking up a copy of “Develop the Mental Strength of a Warrior.” It’s a book that will take you through the exact process to take back control of your thoughts so that you can live a life a power, purpose and passion with perseverance!

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To demonstrate the connection between mental strength thinking and character as well as its role in success, fulfillment and happiness.

Let’s Get Started:

The best way to begin this subject is look at an expert from an article written by Theodore Roosevelt. This sums it up perfectly!

“Bodily vigor is good, and vigor of intellect is even better, but far above both is character. It is true, of course, that a genius may, on certain lines, do more than a brave and manly fellow who is not a genius; and so, in sports, vast physical strength may overcome weakness, even though the puny body may have in it the heart of a lion. But, in the long run, in the great battle of life, no brilliancy of intellect, no perfection of bodily development, will count when weighed in the balance against that assemblage of virtues, active and passive, of moral qualities, which we group together under the name of character; and if between any two contestants, even in college sport or in college work, the difference in character on the right side is as great as the difference of intellect or strength the other way, it is the character side that will win.”

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What’s the relationship between character and personal success?
  • Do you believe successful people are character consciousness?
  • How do you define character?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Character

  • Only successful people can afford to have character consciousness.
  • It’s easy to have character awareness when you’re rich.
  • I have a bigger problems than my character.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Character

  • Nothing is more important than my character in living a life of power, purpose and passion.
  • The foundation of character is keeping your word to others and yourself.
  • A person character is an indication of the trustworthiness.

Outrageous Questions:

  • What percentage of the time do you keep your word, especially to yourself?
  • Would you label your character more weak minded or mentally strong?
  • What would your friends, relative and coworkers say about your character?

Reflective Questions:

  • What could you do to change any flaws in your character?
  • What beliefs would you have to change in order to be a mental strong person of character?
  • What could you do to improve how people perceive your character?

Mental Strength Coaching:

What do you do when no one is watching? Do you procrastinate? Do you waste your valuable time? Do you do what you have to do without being told or reminded? Do you look for ways to be helpful without being asked?

Char-act-er – The stable and distinctive qualities built into an individual’s life that determines his response regardless of circumstances.

Character influences the success of every individual, family, organization, community, and nation. Although some people with bad character seem to be successful on the surface, underneath they face poor relationships, distrust, anxiety, stress, and other severe problems that all the success in the world cannot correct.

You can develop important character qualities in your life today that will help you to be truly successful in everything you do. Also, these qualities positively influences everyone you come in to contact with at home, at work, at the store, in your community, and on your job.

Final Thought

I came across an interesting take on character and success this past week. John Bogle (founder of Vanguard Mutual Fund Group) has written a new book called Enough: True Measures of Money, Business and Life in which he laments that we’ve created a culture where greed is good and our heroes are people who have achieved outsized success (notably measured by the size of their salary/house/cars, etc). He raises an interesting question in the “life” section of the book – “what are the things by which we should measure our lives?” Bogle goes on to write: “we focus too much on things and not enough on the intangibles that make the things worthwhile: too much on success, and not enough on character, without which success is meaningless.” Wow, now that’s a quote to file away for a future teachable moment!

All of which got me to thinking about the relationship between success and character, and how things have changed down through the years. In my father’s day, you couldn’t be considered a success if you didn’t have character; no matter how much money you had or how big your farm was… if you weren’t a “good man” (my father’s simple assessment of character), it didn’t mean squat. No character, no success – at least in my father’s eyes.

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!success and humor

Living a life of power, purpose and passion….with perseverance is walking the path of the Awakened Warrior.  This path encompasses physical, emotional, spiritual and mental.  The mental requires a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs that will instill the feeling of empowerment.

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

To persuade you to your sense of humor as a strategy to achieve personal success

Let’s Get Started:

“Did you hear the one about the manager who got a bigger bonus because he had a great sense of humor?”

You probably haven’t heard this one making the rounds at the water cooler, because it’s not a joke. It’s actually one finding from a study by researcher Fabio Sala—a consultant with the Hay Group’s McClelland Centre for Research and Innovation—who found a positive correlation between the size of executives’ bonuses and their use of humor. The study also found that outstanding executives use humor more than twice as often as the so-called average executives.

Studies like this point to a growing consensus that if you are serious about your career, then sometimes it pays to not be serious. At least, not too serious. Not when a healthy sense of humor can help you manage stress, spark creativity, build relationships, communicate more effectively, and stand out from the herd – not to mention earn you a bigger bonus or more income.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Is there any connection between humor and personal success?
  • Is there any connection between humor and happiness?
  • Is there a place for humor in business?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Humor

  • There’s nothing humorous about the trying to achieve personal success.
  • Humor has no place in success.
  • Humor make you appear shallow and frivolous in achieving personal success.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Humor

  • Humor reduces stress.
  • Humor increases creativity.
  • Humor creates connection with people.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Do you use humor as a performance strategy?
  • If you used humor more often would you be more successful?
  • If you used humor more often would be you happier?

Reflective Questions:

  • Is it possible to overuse humor in the pursuit of personal success?
  • Could humor help reduce your everyday stress?
  • What would you have to let go of on order to use humor more often in the pursuit of your personal goals?

Mental Strength Coaching:

So does all this suggest you need to sign up for a stand-up comedy class or turn into the office joker? Not at all. Demonstrating a healthy sense of humor is rarely about telling jokes, and it certainly isn’t about becoming the class clown. In fact, misusing humor is also a terrific way to get yourself noticed (and not in a good way).

They key is to practice “safe humor”: humor that builds rather than divides relationships, humor that laughs with people, not at people. For as much as humor can be a beneficial career skill, we all learn at an early age that humor is also a powerful weapon—a favorite of schoolyard bullies.

Therefore, offensive humor—such as sexist or racist jokes—is strictly off-limits during work hours. Sarcastic or bullying humor can also be career-damaging, and many practical jokes have resulted in lawsuits (as in the case of the employee who brought laxative-filled brownies to the office) or outright dismissal.

Final Thought

Once your foot is in the door, a well-flexed funny bone can also help maintain a thriving career. Humor is an important social lubricant, bonding tool and trust builder. A healthy sense of humor is also one of the most effective stress busters available, helping people distance themselves from their workplace stressors, maintain a more balanced perspective and overcome obstacles.

Moreover, humor is one of the best catalysts for creative thinking, which makes sense, given that both humor and creativity are about combining unrelated ideas and looking at something in a new and different light. All these benefits are likely why a survey by Robert Half International found that 84% of the CEO’s and H.R. directors believe people with a good sense of humor do a better job.

And as the Sala study points out, a sense of humor is even becoming an essential skill for senior executives. As humorist Bob Ross observed, “A leader without a sense of humor is like a lawn mower at a cemetery—they both have lots of people underneath them, but no one is paying them any attention.

Living a life of power, purpose and passion…with perseverance is walking the path of the Awakened Warrior.

I take one mental strength tips and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct coaching questions.  The intention of this virtual personal coaching session is for you to write and answer these questions in your success journal and then reflect on them to gain insight on yourself, your dreams and what’s holding you back.

To help you make the distinction between personal success and personal fulfillment.

Let’s Get Started:

For many people today the size of their paycheck is not all-important. Above all, they want a career that offers opportunities for both professional and personal fulfillment.

Professional satisfaction now affects everything from individual happiness and family stability to business and company profits and national economic competitiveness.

It contributes to motivation and plays a crucial role in people’s performance of and commitment to their work. Simply put, the more people like what they’re doing for a living, the more motivated they’ll put forth the effort and focus that success demands and their dreams need.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Is it more important to be successful or fulfilled?
  • Is it possible to be successful and fulfilled?
  • Which comes first, success or fulfillment?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Success and Fulfillment

  • You must choose between success and fulfillment.
  • People who are fulfilled don’t care about success.
  • People who choose success are shallow and greedy.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Success and Fulfillment

  • You can be successful and have fulfillment.
  • Success gives you options.
  • Fulfillment helps create success.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Would massive personal success change your life?
  • Are you making a significant difference in someone elses’ life?
  • Would focusing on fulfillment make you more successful?

Reflective Questions:

  • Is it possible to achieve personal success and personal fulfillment at the same time?
  • What would you have to do to become more fulfilled?
  • How do your beliefs around success and fulfillment affect your daily activates?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Stop and think a moment . . . Do you feel that you are a success at what you do? Do you feel fulfilled? Are you happy? Do you love what you do for a living? Do you love your career or job? Are you one of those people who go around smiling all the time, always in a good mood, and always have great and interesting things going on in your life?

If you can say yes to all of these questions, you are obviously a person who has figured out what it is you love to do and made it your life’s work. This not only makes you a success, but gives you fulfillment.

Most people define success as having the material things you want to have, or at least the ability (money) to get these things if you want them. The cars, houses, great paying job; all those things are common measurements of success. However, success is a subjective term, and is based on your opinion. I did say your opinion, not the opinion of others.

Fulfillment is another subjective term, based on each person’s opinion. Fulfillment and happiness are synonyms. Happiness and fulfillment are not the result of having things; they’re the result of an inner contentment. There’s a wonderful quote that goes like this: ‘The happiest people are those who discover that what they should be doing and what they are doing are the same things.’

The sad thing is that too many people are trapped doing what they have to do instead of what they want to do. And what’s worse is they don’t know how to change it. Life is way too short to spend doing something that prevents us from growing and that doesn’t bring us lots of fulfillment. When we’re unfulfilled, we try to fill this void with other things. Could this be the cause of many addictions? It’s certainly the cause of much unhappiness.

Final Thought

What would it feel like to be on top of the world – to know that all of your hard work and dedication has led to the success you’ve always wanted?
