Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To get you to think about the role your body weight plays in your health, success and life.

Let’s Get Started:

There’s ample evidence to suggest a link between body weight and financial success. A study of business school graduates by Harvard Medical School found that men who were at least 20 percent above their “desirable” weights made $4,000 less per year compared with their leaner colleagues, and the earnings gap widened over the years.

In another study, researchers analyzed income and attractiveness and found that men and women rated as unattractive suffered a 10 and 5 percent income deficit, respectively, compared with those of average looks. Those rated as attractive, on the other hand, enjoyed a 5 and 4 percent premium, respectively.

Of course, beauty is at least somewhat in the eye of the beholder, but the authors of the income and attractiveness study note there is broad consensus about what is attractive in our culture today, and among the qualities is leanness.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Does body weight impact your thinking?
  • Does body weight impact your personal success?
  • Does body weight impact your happiness?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Body Weight

  • Body weight has nothing to do with success or happiness.
  • Big is beautiful.
  • We should just accept our fate if we’re overweight.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Body Weight

  • Being overweight is a hindrance to living a full life.
  • Being overweight is painful.
  • Maintaining a thin and healthy physique has significant benefits.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If your body was more muscular and leaner could you be more successful?
  • Are you satisfied with your current body weight?
  • What beliefs would you have to change in order to maintain a lean mean success machine physique?

Reflective Questions:

  • How does your body weight impact your relationships?
  • Does your body weight increase your energy or consume it?
  • Psychologically speaking, which is more painful: sticking to a healthy nutrition and exercise program or being overweight?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Amidst the concern over medical complications associated with weight gain and obesity, new research suggests carrying extra weight is also linked to anxiety and depression.

If you’re depressed or suffer from anxiety how can you go after your dreams?

Final Thought

The obese are absent from work more often than people of healthy weight. The most obese men take 5.9 more sick days a year; the most obese women, 9.4 days more. Obesity-related absenteeism costs employers as much as $6.4 billion a year, health economists led by Eric Finkelstein of Duke University calculated. Don’t think being overweight affects your personal success…think again!

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you evolve from an egocentric individual to a spirit driven human being focused on self-mastery.

Let’s Get Started:

We are not provided with the chance to experience life by choice. We do not choose our unique physical characteristics, genes and intrinsic essence. The gift of life is given to us as an opportunity – a seed that awaits its potential manifestation and development based upon the experiences each one of us will be exposed to in life.

However there is also the element of choice. We can CHOOSE to become who we want to be, based on the DECISIONS we make along the way.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Why does beating someone else mean so much to so many?
  • How do you define winning?
  • In the course of competition, when do you feel the best about yourself?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Personal Growth

  • Personal growth is meaningless unless you win.
  • Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.
  • Being a great competitor means beating everyone else.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Personal Growth

  • If you focus on personal growth you’ll have your share of competitive victories without turning competition into a war of egos.
  • Winning means being happy with whom you are.
  • Winning is an inside job.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you enhanced your beliefs on winning would be a better person?
  • Have you been following the average persons thinking that indicates beating other people makes you more of a human?
  • Are you competitive philosophy based more on being average or reaching your human potential?

Reflective Questions:

  • When did you develop your competitive philosophy?
  • When are you most satisfied as a competitor, besides winning?
  • Is defining winning as personal growth an adolescent philosophy?

Mental Strength Coaching:

While our spiritual self sounds amazing and our human self sounds a little boring, in order to be successful as an athlete, executive or entrepreneur, we need a good balance between both, whether in the specifics of our pursuit, or in our overall life balance. We are all striving for that all elusive feeling of self-actualization, but at the end of the day we are human. In fact, in truth, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Final Thought

Self Mastery, alone, sounds like a selfish term; but if you cannot help yourself, you will have limited ability to help others. Self mastery is the ability to make the most out of your physical, mental, and spiritual health. In other words, to be the best you can be.

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To persuade you to adapt a never say die attitude when it comes to manifesting your goals, dreams and vision.

Let’s Get Started:

In the words of Mack Machowicz, a former U.S. Navy SEAL & Sniper, “Not Dead, Can’t Quit.”

‘Not Dead Can’t Quit’ may sound intense but going after what you want in this life, and getting it, is immensely challenging. You will need practical and proven skill sets for achieving clarity, creating intense concentration and executing precise responsible actions.

NDCQ is here to remind you just how capable you actually are and lead you to personal & professional success.

To find out more about Mack and his philosophy “Not Dead Can’t Quit” please visit his site at http://ndcq.com/

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What role does perseverance play in achieving personal success?
  • What role does attitude play?
  • Is perseverance something you’re born with or something you develop?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Attitude and Perseverance

  • Attitude has little to do with success.
  • Attitude is the result of your experience.
  • Having a positive attitude feels good but doesn’t impact your results.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Attitude and Perseverance

  • Attitude is the framework of thought.
  • Attitude affects everything.
  • Attitude creates feelings and emotions.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you were more consistent and persistent would you be more successful?
  • Are your current results an indication of your level of perseverance?
  • How many real life examples do you have that demonstrate your persistence?

Reflective Questions:

  • Is your life vision worth fighting for?
  • How much are you willing to suffer to turn your dreams into a reality?
  • Are you emotionally prepared to never say die in the battle to achieve you life’s vision when everyone around you is telling you to quit?

Mental Strength Coaching:

You already know that success does not always belong to the most intelligent, the most educated or the one with the most money. In fact, it belongs to those who come up tops in persistence. They show the most tenacity, strength and resilience.

Persistence is dogged-determination. It is power. Persistence is the will to succeed, come what may. It is what separates the minority who eventually do succeed from the 90% majority who give up their dreams prematurely.

Final Thought

There is a Buddhist saying that underscores the importance of persistence, “In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins – not through strength, but through persistence.” I like that it draws on nature to explain a fundamental idea on success.

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!Visionary

Exceeding your human potential, achieving personal success and reaching your personal goals starts with a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs that will instill the feeling of empowerment.

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

This is one in a series of virtual personal coaching and mental strength tips to help kick-start your week.  It is intended to create self-empowerment and inspire you to take action so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

I take one mental strength tips and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct coaching questions.  The intention of this virtual personal coaching session is for you to write and answer these questions in your success journal and then reflect on them to gain insight on yourself, your dreams and what’s holding you back.

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To persuade you to create a bold and audacious life vision and then put it writing.

Let’s Get Started:

A visionary is effective in manifesting his or her vision because s/he creates specific, achievable goals, initiates action and enlists the participation of others.

A visionary is based on a balanced expression of the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical dimensions.  It requires core values, clear vision, empowering relationships, and innovative action.  When one or more of these dimensions are missing, leadership cannot manifest a vision.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do you believe clarity of thought creates mental strength?
  • Do you believe specific details in thought help clarify a person’s focus?
  • Which is more powerful when it comes to motivation: logic or emotion?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Vision

  • Vision is only for leaders.
  • If I create a vision I’ll be disappointed.
  • Only companies and organizations have visions.  People just have goals.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Vision

  • Vision is the emotional driver behind every action.
  • Vision keeps you going when logic tells you to stop.
  • Vision is the cornerstone of achievement.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Do you have a written vision for you life, if not, what’s it costing you?
  • If writing a vision for your life isn’t worth the time, what does that say about your vision?
  • If you’re not thinking about your vision most of the time, what are you thinking about?

Reflective Questions:

  • Is your vision emotionally compelling enough to motivate you when everything looks hopeless?
  • Does your vision excite you when you read it?
  • How often do you think about your vision?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Are you someone with a vision burning inside that seeks to manifest?

Do you see yourself as a visionary?

What is it that makes a person become a visionary?   A person may dream wonderful visions of the future and articulate them with great inspiration.

A visionary is good with actions as well as words, and so can bring his/her vision into being in the world, thus transforming it in some way. More than words are needed for a vision to take form in today’s world.  It requires leadership and heartfelt commitment.

Final Thought

Visionaries are the builders of a new dawn, working with imagination, insight, and boldness. They present a challenge that calls forth the best in people and brings them together around a shared sense of purpose. They work with the power of intentionality and alignment with a higher purpose. Their eyes are on the horizon, not just on the near at hand. They are social innovators and change agents, seeing the big picture and thinking strategically.

There is a profound interconnectedness between the leader and the whole, and true visionary leaders serve the good of the whole. They recognize that there is some truth on both sides of most polarized issues in our society today. They search for solutions that transcend the usual adversarial approaches and address the causal level of problems. They find a higher synthesis of the best of both sides of an issue and address the systemic root causes of problems to create real breakthroughs.

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!self-image-circle

Exceeding your human potential, achieving personal success and reaching your personal goals starts with a mental strength mindset of empowering beliefs that will create the feeling of empowerment.

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To convince you that your self-image is the cornerstone of your success and consciousness, and that it can be enhanced to that of a top performer through dedicated re-programming.

Let’s Get Started:

It has been overwhelmingly established that people who expect to succeed at a given endeavor are more likely to do so than those who expect to fail. Positive expectations work as a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy – those who expect to succeed are more likely to do so, thus maintaining and reinforcing their expectation for success.

The expectations we have for ourselves are largely determined by our self-image. The opinion you have of yourself directly impacts your expectations and consequently your chances for success in any undertaking.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • How is a persona’s self-image created?
  • Do people have one self-image or multiple self-images in different areas of their life?
  • Have you experienced highs and lows in your self-image?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Self-Image:

  • You’re born with your self-image.
  • Self-image cannot be altered.
  • Self-image has no effect on behavior.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Self-Image:

  • Self-image is forged primarily in childhood.
  • Self-image is the result of random programming by us and others.
  • Self-image can be completely enhanced through mental strength re-programming.

Outrageous Questions:

  • How has your self-image helped you in the past?
  • How has your self-image hurt you in the past?
  • How has your self-image affected your level of success?

Reflective Questions:

  • What comes first, success or a successful self-image?
  • On a scale of 1-9, 9 being the best, how strong is your self-image around success?
  • Do your closest friends and family have healthy and positive self-images?

Mental Strength Coaching:

The self-image is the foundation of everything in life. We all always act and think in consistency with our self-image or identity. Everything you do, think and feel is based on how you see yourself.

The self-image is your own conception of “The person I am.” It is built from your beliefs about yourself. Our subconscious mind does not question the validity of our self-image but proceeds to act upon it just as if it were true. The self-image creates individual reality regardless of how accurate it is.

Final Thought

Your self-image defines and limits your potential. What you need to do is build your self-image so that you expand from your current self-imposed limitations. By expanding your self-image, you expand the limits of your talents and capabilities.

Expanding your self-image expands your personal field of possibilities. If you don’t think you really deserve love, success and abundance then you usually don’t take the risks necessary to create it. And, if it falls in your lap, you often sabotage it because reality doesn’t match your internal self-image.

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!self reliance

These series of posts are for YOU!

If I’m not able to be your live personal coach, then I highly recommend picking up a copy of “Develop the Mental Strength of a Warrior.” It’s a book that will take you through the exact process to take back control of your thoughts so that you can live a life a power, purpose and passion with perseverance!

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To convince you that you and only you are responsible for your personal success, fulfillment and happiness.

Let’s Get Started:

You can’t depend on another to create your personal success. You can’t depend on someone else to do for you want you need to do for you. This has been true through the centuries and even more so today. You have to be not only pro-active (positive and forthright) but pre-active (seeing what is coming and positioning yourself for it).

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What are your feelings around the concept of self-reliance?
  • How has this idea served you in the past?
  • Why do think people expect outside influences and circumstances to make them happy?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Self-Reliance

  • When I get … (fill in the blank) I’ll feel successful.
  • My family and friends give me feelings of fulfillment.
  • I’m not happy unless I have the love and support of my family and friends.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Self-Reliance

  • I feel successful even when I’m “failing.”
  • Fulfillment is an emotion that can be created internally by knowing how your mind works.
  • I feel happy when my habits, action and behaviors are in alignment with my value system.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you increased your self-reliance would you be more successful?
  • How self-reliant is the average person?
  • What would you have to let go of to become more self-reliant?

Reflective Questions:

  • How self-reliant are your closest friends and family?
  • Do you believe in the philosophy that says people are as happy as the make up their minds to be?
  • What belief would you have to improve in order to become more self-reliant?

Mental Strength Coaching:

It’s so easy to accept others’ decisions and judgments or express opinions similar to the opinions of other people than to make or create your own. But this is not the exact behavior of a self-reliant person. A person is regarded as self-reliant if his actions and thoughts originate from within him and free from outside influences and not dictated by someone.

Final Thought

When you are self-reliant, you are confident enough to be able to do things by yourself in your own way, without help or guidance or recommendations offered by anyone. You are who you are, so you choose to be your true self rather than imitate someone else.

You make your own decisions or judgments; express your right or ability to do something, think your own thoughts, and voice your own opinions, not somebody else’s opinions.

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!security

These series of posts are for YOU!

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To shift your perception into objective reality when is comes to your belief about security.

Let’s Get Started:

There’s a seeming tradeoff between freedom and security: You can stick with the day job or chuck it to live your dream–if you’re willing to give up the security of the regular paycheck. That kind of security, though, is an illusion.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What does security mean to you?
  • Does security even exist?
  • How does the need for security affect your thinking, behavior and performance?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Security

  • Security is the main goal in life.
  • Security means playing it safe.
  • Security in financial terms means having a job with a large company that’s unlikely to go out of business.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Security

  • Security is dependent on me performing my job.
  • Security is most contexts does not exist.
  • Security means living life in the slow lane.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Are you trading opportunity for perceived security?
  • Is your perceived security real or imagined?
  • Is it possible that the more risks you take the more secure you actually are?
    • Are you absolutely certain of your answer?

Reflective Questions:

  • Are you addicted to fostering feelings of security?
  • If you took more chances would you be more successful?
  • What beliefs would you have to enhance in order to take more risks?

Mental Strength Coaching:

We have to be a bit careful of our terms. People mean a lot of different things when they say “security.” There’s the security that comes from living in a sturdy house that helps keep out burglars and the winter cold.

There’s the security that comes from having family members who care for one another. And there’s the security that comes from knowing that you have a diversity of skills for handling the problems that come your way. These things all have their limits (nothing provides absolute security), but they are real.

Final Thought

What’s an illusion is the faux security that comes from making the conventional choices and fitting in. That provides merely the security of knowing that, if things go badly, you’ll have plenty of company in your misery. Even a good job can be taken away if times get tough–or vanish all together if your boss is too timid to let people go when the times demand it.

When you think about it, security can’t possibly come from something you have. There’s nothing you can have that can’t be stolen by a thief or expropriated by the government. There’s nothing you can have that can’t be destroyed by war or natural disaster. There’s nothing you can have that can’t be made worthless by change (either circumstantial or technological).

Security can’t be something you have. It can only be something you are. Because who you are, is the only thing that can’t be taken away.

To help you uncover and understand your beliefs and feelings about the art of selling.

Let’s Get Started:

Let’s examine the word “sell.” The word comes from the Norwegian “selje,” and it means “to serve.” The word “sell,” then comes from the verb “to serve.” So, selling is really serving.  This kind of selling is about serving: it’s not just about selling, not just about jamming a product down someone’s throat.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do you believe selling is a noble and respected profession?
  • What do successful salespeople do?
  • Is selling manipulative or service oriented by nature?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Selling

  • Selling is talking people into buying things.
  • Salespeople are pushy.
  • Salespeople only care about making the sale.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Selling

  • Sales means helping people do what they love to do, and that’s buying products and service that improve the quality of their lives.
  • Selling is transferring your belief in a product/service to the prospective customer.
  • Selling means educating the buyer about the benefits of the product or service.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Could some of your deeply held average person beliefs about selling be holding you back?
  • Do you harbor any beliefs that selling is a manipulation and pressure process?
  • If all your beliefs about selling were based in supportive and mental strength thinking would you be more successful?

Reflective Questions:

  • Who is the best salesperson you’ve ever encountered and why?
  • Who is the worst salesperson you’ve ever encounters and why?
  • What beliefs would you have to let go of in order to enhance your thoughts about selling?

Mental Strength Coaching:

I believe that one other important point is that you need to be able to see that what you are selling is valuable.  You need to know that it’s so valuable that you’re willing to do whatever it takes to have your clients understand how valuable it really is.

This knowing generates enthusiasm in seeing that what you’ve got is invaluable.  You know that it’s worth much more then you’re asking.  All you are doing is asking the clients to see the same thing.

Final Thought

One of the reasons why you may think of salespeople as being pushy is because they have an image of not listening.  The standard image of a salesperson is the loudmouth, fast talker: the person who would come in and sell you anything but not listen.  In the 30s, 40s and 50s you can get away with that, maybe even in the 60s and 70s.

We’ve changed; people aren’t willing to put up with that anymore.  In the 50s and 60s they would.  As we move through the 70s and 80s 90s and to 2000’s even traditional advertising methods have become less effective, and advertisers search for new ways to get the same results that they were used to getting previously.

The average salesperson is typically seen as a “fast talker, hard closer, razzle-dazzle come in and make a sale and hit the road without finding out anything about the customer.” This old stereo typical salesperson doesn’t bother to know who the customer is, or what they want.  That type of selling doesn’t work anymore.

The major reason why we may feel uncomfortable about selling is, because we have an image of the salesperson as being that kind of crass, unfeeling kind of person.  The fact is that our customers have changed in their response to salespeople and selling.  Fortunately, there is a new discipline that allows the salesperson to be more effective in selling.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To convince you that reprogramming your limiting belief system is not only possible, but practical and simple through the mental strength tool of self-talk.

Let’s Get Started:

People that achieve personal success in a consistent basis have one thing in common. Whether they are successful athletes, executives, business owners, or artists, they all know that they will succeed.

They know this before they even attempt to achieve the goal they set out for themselves. They envision themselves living the way they want to live and feeling the excitement, gratitude, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from reaching what they set out to do.

Positive self-talk is the dialogue that goes on in your mind. It is where you believe in yourself and are confident in your capabilities to the point that you are certain that you will succeed.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do think you can change some your limiting beliefs?
  • Does self-talk have the power to reconstruct your limiting belief system?
  • Is it possible to talk yourself into both supportive and non-supportive behaviors and habits?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Self-Talk

  • Self-talk is too simple to work.
  • Positive self-talk it silly.
  • I’m too busy to change my current self-talk.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Self-Talk

  • Improving my self-talk improves my behavior and my results.
  • The potential for change through self-talk is limitless.
  • Peak performance self-talk builds peak performance beliefs.

Outrageous Questions:

  • If you enhanced your self-talk would you be more successful?
  • Is it possible you’re underestimating the power of self-talk?
  • Could enhancing your self-talk be the missing element in your personal success?

Reflective Questions:

  • Would you be willing to experiment with your self-talk for the next 30 days?
  • What level of language do your closest friends and family members use?
  • Is your self-talk holding you back?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Self-talk is the internal voice that each one of us has inside our head. Sometimes it says positive things and at other times it says negative things. This voice acts as a narrator as we think about and interpret situations on a day-to-day basis. This internal self-talk helps direct our mind to create mental pictures based on what we say to ourselves. With these pictures we run ‘internal movies’ in our mind.

  • What types of ‘movies’ do you run in your mind?
  • Do you run movies where you are watching the worst-case scenario happen?
  • Are you the hero or the victim in your movies?
  • Do you imagine yourself as capable and self-confident or bumbling and incompetent?

Final Thought

The profound truth is, you are the director of your own movies! If you are tired of watching those ‘horror movies’ in your head then you can take control and produce the thoughts and images that will empower, enrich, and transform the quality of your life!

You can grab your copy now by going HERE.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you understand and define what personal success is and what personal success is not.

Let’s Get Started:

Personal success is determined by you and only you! No other person on the face of this earth can tell you what success is or what it means. You are responsible to decide what success means to you — and to go after it with all you have.

There is a slight nuance, the mentally strong and peak performances define success a lot different from the average person.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What does success mean to you?
  • How important is success?
  • Is your current definition of success helping you or hurting you?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Success

  • Success equals money.
  • Success is complicated.
  • Success is elusive.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Success

  • Success is simple.
  • Success means something different to each person.
  • Chasing success is fun if you love what you’re doing.

Outrageous Questions:

  • How much have you bought into the average person’s definition of success?
  • If your definition of personal success was more clearly defined would you be more successful?
  • If you were more successful would you be happier?

Reflective Questions:

  • What is the relationship between success, fulfillment and happiness?
  • How successful are your five closest friends?
  • Does your belief system help or hinder your success?

Mental Strength Coaching:

Personal Success means different things to different people.  To some, personal success might mean becoming famous, a millionaire, or just owning a house.  Others may think that personal success is just a way of life; like feeling good.  For me, personal success is achieving the short, medium, and long-term goals I have set for myself.

Obviously, the only way one will know they are a “successful person” is if they have achieved some type of goal.  I personally don’t think that just making a million dollars makes you a success, but someone else might.

Final Thought

I think that personal success is a balancing act of the areas of life: work, money, family, friends, and leisure.  One should never give up any one area.  However, overindulging in any one area can have severe impacts on the others.  Having a balanced lifestyle is what success is all about.  It ensures that you have variety in life.  It will keep you motivated to learn new things about different parts of your life and ensure that you set new goals through out your life.
