No one could ride a horse if the horse discovered its real strength. The same thing is true for people.    personal success

Horses are massive, gentle creatures who are by far larger and stronger than the men and women who handle them, yet they docilely obey the commands they are given. It doesn’t seem logical that a large, powerful animal would allow itself to be mastered by a human being, yet we have been able to use our intelligence to dominate the animal kingdom.

You can use these same forces to allow the positive side of yourself to dominate the negative. Mental strength and a positive mental attitude allow you to tap the source of great personal power that resides within you, enabling you to accomplish things you never before believed were possible.

This is especially true when it comes to money management.  Sure, we can have the mental strength to climb mountains, run races and even take a deep look into our souls, but when it comes to money many seem to lack mind power to manage it correctly.

Napoleon Hill discuss the art frugality in this excerpt below

“Frugality is one of the essentials of success. The habit of planned savings encourages frugality, makes it an established habit.

Every man is where he is, and what he is, because of the habits he has acquired. The man who lives up to the limit of his income, or beyond it, never is a free man. He is forever under bondage to others, and bondage is not a welcome circumstance. It is not part of the Creator’s purpose for man.

From here on each of us is under obligation to guard our individual sources and our time as efficiently as a well managed corporation manages its funds and the time of its employees.

If this obligation confuses or irritates some of us, let us take comfort from the fact that it will at least lead us into better habits of self-discipline. And let us recognize that we are approaching the interpretation of a rule of human conduct which is the hope of mankind because it holds the secret by which we may escape from the liabilities of this age of confusion and chaos through which we are passing.

Presentation of this great rule has been reserved as a fitting climax to the principles previously described. It rightly serves as a climax for the sixteen preceding principles because it is the principle which gives moral guidance in the use of the power which the first sixteen principles place into your hands.

Power is a dangerous thing in the hand of someone who does not recognize a moral obligation in its use. The history of mankind proves this.” – Source: PMA Science of Success Course. Pg. 486.

Did you notice this part, “…serves as the climax for the sixteen preceding principles because it is the principle which gives moral guidance in the use of the power which the first sixteen principles place into your hands.”

This principle plays a huge part in the 16 personal success principles.  So much so, that even we master the previous 15; they are little use if we don’t master this principle.

As a society we’ve done a lousy job of teaching the importance of money management.  So with this gap individuals like Harv Eker and alike have come along to fill it.

Harv’s company, Peak Potentials Training was built around developing the correct mindset for not just money management but for financial freedom!

Another great person that I follow is Bill Losey, CFP®.  Bill has a straight forward approach to “retirement intelligence.”

There are so many great individuals out there that can teach us the mindset and techniques for money management and the production of wealth that this last personal success principle should almost be the easiest.

If you’re struggling in this area find one person that you connect with (that is living what they are teaching) and follow them and them alone!  The problem with having access to so many great people we tend to overwhelm ourselves with information…then we don’t do anything!

So, pick one, wither it’s Harv Eker, Bill Losey, Suze Orman or David Bach, just pick one and follow their advice completely!

I’d like to hear from you about who you have been taking advice from, this way other readers will have a greater selection to choose from.  Please let us know in the comments below.

OK…not the best title, I’m working my way up to “The Saint, The Surfer and CEO” and for now this will have to do, but maybe someday.

I believe we have all heard this phrase before “Don’t look back, look to the direction you want to go, forward” or at least something similar.  We’ve also heard that history repeats itself.

So what does this have to the Janus, patterns and success?

Back around 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of Rome was placed at the beginning of the calendar (now January).  Janus had two heads, one looking back and one looking forward.  Janus became symbolic with starting a new and resolutions.

The interesting thing that many don’t realize is that in addition to looking forward (resolutions) Janus is also looking back (history). To many of us we don’t want to look back for fear of what we might see.  All the ‘what if’s’ and ‘I should have’s’.

Looking back is essential in helping us move forward.  Yes it takes mental strength and if we look back with a questioning mind and a sharp pencil there is a lot to be discovered.

A sharp pencil?

Yes…the pencil is used to record actions and results.  The recoding of the actions and results will reveal patterns. It takes mental strength to look back and look at the patterns.

Once patterns are discovered it is easy to understand the “why” around the results.  Let’s say that at the beginning of 2008 you swore you were going to get rid of 15 lbs.  Well here it is 2009 and you’re swearing the same thing. So instead of beating yourself up, start of 2009 by recording your actions and results, i.e. for the next week, write down your weight, how often you went to the gym and what you did.  Also, write down what and when you ate.  After a while you will see a pattern emerging and you will know EXACLY why you are getting the results you’re seeing.

OK, let’s take income for another example.  You say want more, let’s start recording.  For the next week write down all the extra efforts and other income opportunities you have.  Then write down the productive time spent on the efforts to generate more income.  Oh yea, productive time is time actually communicating to someone about your product or service, social networking does NOT count unless you are engaged in a negation about your offering.  Again after a week to 10 days a pattern will emerge.

You see, keeping track of your actions is actually looking back.  You are looking back at the trail YOU left.  It is in the recognition of the trail (pattern) that your course can be adjusted and the desired results realized.

You’re heard me talk about my mentor Harv Eker, well he has a saying “Correct and continue” And this makes perfect sense.  Except people forget, correct from what?  From the past!  The only way you can correct from the past is to use your mental strength and look back.  It is then you will see patterns and will be able to correct and move towards success!

To Your Inner Strength,
Gregg

One of my mentors, Harv Eker, teaches “Nothing has meaning except for the meaning we give it.” On the surface this seems so simply, and it is….but it’s not easy to truly understand.

Think about this…there is no happiness, confidence or misery in the world.  All these are emotions and meanings the WE project onto a situation.  Don’t believe me? Try this, look in pockets or purse for happiness, did you find any?  Or take a look in the cracks of the sofa for some confidence, find any?  No…maybe you found a few quarters, but no confidence.

As difficult as this concept may be to grasp, the understanding of it is critical to live a life of self-control. It takes discipline and mental strength to TRULY understand that nothing has meaning except for the meaning you give it.  If this seems is difficult to accept, and yet at some level you do understand it repeat this phrase several times a day for the next week.

Nothing has meaning except for the meaning I give it

Once you accept as this a true, it will mean that YOU will now be in control of your thoughts, and your thoughts will dictate your feelings.  All meanings and emotions reside in our “inner world”, the world of beliefs, thoughts and feelings.

The “outer world” is the world of situations, experiences and the gross material.  It is your inner world that creates meaning for your outer world.  When you come to master this you will be in complete control of your own experiences, results and future.

I’d like to leave you this little twist…nothing has meaning except for the meaning you give it…especially your life!

To Your Inner Strength,
Gregg

What a great positive and inspiring weekend…well except for the Bears loss that is :-( I received Friday three DVD’s that I ordered. There are: Spiritual Warriors, Quest for Success and Quest – Happy, Healthy and Wise.

All these movies are extremely inspirational in their own right. I’d like to highlight the Quest movies. This is another production of Lili Fournier.

Lili abandoned her lucrative career, and set off on a journey to find a way to make the Quest. The previous Quest series of specials have been critically acclaimed as one of the most powerful, inspirational and motivational series ever produced on personal achievement and for pioneering spiritual programming on PBS.

Some of the participants in this Quest are Jack Canfield, Marci Shimoff, John Assaraf, T. Harv Eker and Sir Richard Branson.

The information in these two DVD’s is so powerful and inspiring that I made a commitment to create a workshop I’ve been dreaming about, Warriors Quest. The workshop will be base in indigenous and shamanic practices and experiences that will assist the participants to find and embrace their warrior roots. Once these roots are rediscovers the participants will be infused with their own inner and mental strength.

The learning’s will be is truly transformational and can be applied to all aspects of your everyday life.

I’ll have the rough outline will done in 7 to 10 days. Then I’ll find a location(s), probably Bend, OR, Sedona, AZ and Hawaii.

In the meantime, check out the movies…you’ll be inspired as well.

To Your Inner Strength,
Gregg

I just listened to this amazing online interview about the current economy and what to do to ensure your financial situation isn’t devastated by what’s happening in this market. The interview is with T. Harv Eker – you’ve probably heard of his work before – and deals specifically with how to create opportunities during this economic crisis and how to set yourself up to get “frickin’ rich” because of the choices you make today.

This is mental strength for finances!

Just click on www.millionairemind.com – you’ll see a button for a Free Report; click that and put in your email address and both a text and audio file of the interview will be emailed to you directly.

I’ve already listened to the report myself, and it really got me thinking positively about what I can do right now to make sure I’m successful – in any market. I’m sure you’ll get as much out of it as I did.

Have a Happy Halloween,
Gregg
