Problems….we all seem to have them right?  I don’t have the body I want.  I’m not making the money I want. I can’t mental strengthfind the right person for me.

Problems are everywhere!

Or are they?

I’d like to offer up that the only problem is the idea that there are problems; that things aren’t okay…they’re not the way they’re “supposed to be.”  Tony Robbins says that the only reason we are dissatisfied and have problems is that our expectations (our blueprint) do not equal our reality, that is, what we perceive should be happening.

We have a definition for personal success and we’re not there, so we’re frustrated and unhappy. Never thinking of WHO created the definition of personal success in the first place.

In the same way that something only becomes a piece of art when someone puts a frame around it, something only becomes a problem when someone describes it as one.  The basic structure of a problem is that “Things are not the way they’re supposed to be, and I can’t be happy until they are.”

I’m here to tell you that this is a lie.  You can be happy now, regardless of your circumstances.  One thing to do is look at your definition of “personal success.”  Was it set too high?  Is it really a reflection of who you are?  When you modify your definition and start to accept the reality of the current situation, then you’ve exercised your mental strength and have personal empowerment.

Don’t get me wrong, this is not to say that there is no room for improvement or that achieving more is not desirable.  But by starting to accept your reality just the way it is, and that’s okay for now, then you release the worry, fear and anxiety that have been holding you back.

Once you have “cleared” the disempowering thoughts and energy you can then use your mental strength and the power of focus to create the circumstances you desire…and this is true personal empowerment!

Let me hear from you on the subject of problems in the comments below.

Quotes can be much then a source of inspiration and motivation.  When used as a contemplation or affirmation they can be transforming!

With the Labor Day weekend here and most of us have a long weekend this would be a great time for some focused contemplation and affirmations….or as Tony Robbins says describes them “incantations.”

To give a brief overview of each so you’ll be able to experience the power of the below mental strength quotes here are the basics.

Contemplation – focusing on a single thought and asking questions about how this quote applies or can apply to your life.  The contemplation should last 5 minutes and ONLY focus on a single quote and deeply think about it’s meaning, what it means to you, how you can use it, how it can help you.  Keep creating deeper questions.   If you can answer the question quickly go deeper.  At some point you should “stump” yourself and have to wait for the answer.  This is contemplation.

Affirmation/Incantations – Again, select one quote and repeat is out loud (to yourself) with emotion.  This is not a simple memorization process; this is to create energy, passion and new belief.  Also, select a different word to emphasize.  Say that you select “Men’s best successes come after their disappointments.”  For the first 5 times you say it out loud with energy on the entire phrase.  Then emphasize the word “men’s”, for 5 times, then “best”, and so forth until you have repeated the entire phrase.  I find this process very inspirational when I talk a walk.

If you really want to experience a shift this weekend, combine the contemplation and affirmations.  Perform the contemplation first thing in the morning for 5 minutes.  Then go out for a walk and use the same quote and perform your incantations.

I guarantee you feel a difference.

So…here are 40 very powerful mental strength quotes for personal empowerment and personal success.

My computer is acting VERY funny today and I’ll need to run some diagnostics on it.  So, I don’t have much time to write a lengthy post.

I do want to share this episode of Breakthroughs with Tony Robbins with you.

Not too sure if NBC has stopped airing the episodes all together and making them available via the Internet.  If so, this would be a very sad testament about our society when a great show like this will be taken off the air and another “Real House Wife’s” series is put on the air.

Oh yea, in case you’re interested all the episodes of Breakthroughs can be seen here:

http://www.nbc.com/breakthrough-with-tony-robbins/

Anyway, hope I’m back up soon and I’d really like hear your thoughts about Tony Robbins show in the comments below

When we look at a certain object, a fine piece of art… a painting for example, and we’re standing only inches away we mental strengthwon’t be able to appreciate the entire picture.  Sure we may enjoy the details, but we may also find the “imperfections.”  When we step back and then look at the painting, that’s when we get a complete picture and all its beauty.

We all arrive at a point in our lives when we are ready for change and we have access to numerous amounts of information that will help us unlock our personal power. But until that time we can be staring at something right under our nose but we don’t see it.  It seems like the only time we think of increasing our personal power is when “everything” goes to sh*&.

You’ve heard the frog story right?

Place a frog in a pot of boiling water.

What happens?

He jumps out!

Why?

Because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment…its’ way too hot!

Now place a different frog into warm water, and then slowly turn the heat up.

What happens?

The frog gets used to the slow increase in its environment and becomes someone’s dinner

Many people are like the second frog.

We learn our lessons when we experience pain. We increase our mental strength by facing and pushing through resistance.   The key is we must be attentive enough to see the warning signs that things about to become tough.  Then we must push through as opposed to back off.

When do we realize that we need to change diets and start working out? When our clothes don’t fit anymore.  We can then either back off the pain and buy bigger size clothes, or face the pain, push thought it by taking up a healthy exercise or diet program.

Unfortunately the only time we ever embrace our personal power is when the whole world is crashing and falling apart. We’re frustrated and angry because we perceive that change is not easy.  Change is very easy….it’s the resistance to change that’s hard.

Here’s a saying I love…”You don’t wait till you’re thirsty to dig a well”

Change will happen, like it or not. At one point or another, we are all going to experience different turning points in our life – and we are all going to eventually have to dig deep and embrace our personal power not because the world says so, not because our friends are nagging us, but because we realized it’s for our own good.

We are all more powerful then we think.  I’m sure you can think back to at least one situation that required tremendous personal power to make it thought can’t you?

The question is…how did you feel about it?

You see, happy, successful and accomplished people don’t just accept change, they embrace it.

You don’t have to put into a pot of boiling water before realizing the need for personal power.  Unlocking your personal power means moving from ‘effect’ to ‘cause’ and removing all excuses and reason why you are the way you are and look for reasons to be the way you want to be.

Tony Robbins discusses in his “Personal Breakthrough” site, four crucial steps to taking back your personal power.

Step 1 – Identify Where You Live Emotionally

Identify all the empowering and disempowering emotions you feel at least once a week.   Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle.  On one side write all the empowering emotions and on the other side right all the disempowering emotions.  Then identify the top 2 or 3 disempowering emotions you wish you to change.

Step 2 – Identify the Antidote Emotion

Look at your identified top disempowering emotions, turn them 180º…what is that emotion? For example you feel fear…the antidote would be courage.   Find the antidote for your top disempowering emotions and write them down next to the disempowering emotions.

Step 3 – Practice the New Emotion

So for the example above, when you feel fear, how you would feel if you had courage instead?  Really feel it, stand the way you’d fell, talk the way you’d talk.  Perform this exercise several times a day for each of three disempowering emotions.

Step 4 – Condition the New Emotion

This is where repetition comes in.  By constantly practicing shifting states you’ll be soon be able to shift automatically. Then the new emotion becomes conditioned.

With NLP, Time Empowerment®, hypnosis you can improve your mental strength so that the above steps can be performed swiftly and you’ll begin to experience your personal power almost immediately!

In case you missed it, Tony Robbins “Breakthrough” debuted last night and regardless of what anyone thinks of the show I feel the deeper message is critical to everyone.

We have the power and we must use that power to take back control of our life!

If you contemplate the steps Tony gave in the show and then determine how you can apply them to your life, the show will much more then entertainment.

If on the other hand you sit there and mock the show, Tony and how bad it was…well you’re life may never change and you have only yourself to blame….oh yea, what have you done to help people lately?

There are 7 Steps in the show:

1 – Rewrite Your Story

2 – Confront Your Real Issues

3 – Discover Your Inner Strength

4 – Redefine What Is Possible

5 – Exceed Your Expectations

6 – Change Your Belief System

7 – Own Your Breakthrough

What’s great about show like this is we can all have our own interpretation of what each steps means (to us).

My interpretation of the steps are:

Rewrite Your Story” – If we choose to continue on the path we’re on we can expect to get more of the same.  If that’s a story of sorrow, poverty, sickness…we’ll keep getting more of the same.  If how ever we “rewrite our story” before it happens we will have different results.  We can rewrite our story by making even the smallest of changes in our perspective.  A small shift now will create dramatic results down the road.  One way to create this shift is by asking yourself “What if…”  “What if I stopped thinking this way? Then what would happen?”  “What if I stated to act differently? What would happen?”  By simply questioning your current situation you’ll begin to shack loss the limiting beliefs that hold you in bondage.

Confront Your Real Issues” – The real issues are deeper then what we see.  What we see is the ‘effect’ of the ‘cause’.  We need to get to the ‘cause.’  The real issue isn’t that your overweight, unemployed or don’t have a special person in your life.  The real issue is how you THINK and FEEL about the issues.  As Tony said, “The quality of your life is the quality of your emotions.”  If your thoughts and emotions are in turmoil…your life will reflect this.  So by digging deep and getting the real issue, permanent change can occur.

Discover Your Inner Strength” – Once you’ve confronted you real issue you can now experience just how much mental strength you have.  This will take guts, courage and a “damm the torpedoes” attitude.  Here is where action comes in. It’s great to contemplate and discover your real issue, but if you don’t take action to counter it, you’ll never discover your inner strength.  With the new perspective from confronting your real issue you’ll notice things you’ve never seen before.  When you see the world a new, as if for the first time, you’ll be able to tap into our inner strength and take new action…and get new results!

Redefine What Is Possible” – By discovering your inner strength and taking new action you automatically redefine what you thought was possible.  If you had thought something was possible, you would have done it already won’t have you?  The power of taking action is incredible!  Not only do you discover your mental strength but you also redefine what you once that as impossible is now possible. And if you change one thought about something you can change ALL your thoughts!

Exceed Your Expectations” – So now we come what I call “the push.”  If you’re like me your expectations are set pretty high aren’t they?   Well this particular step is refereeing to what you found when you faced the real issue, discovered your inner strength and redefined what is possible.  So you know what?  This is all new ground!  The only standards set here are the old ones with limits.  In this case you can “shoot for the eagle, bag the pheasant and you won’t eat crow.”   Set a SMART goal, go for it and exceed what you thought was possible!

Change Your Belief System” – Not sure if you’re noticing a pattern here, but each step sets you up for the next.  Think about this….who sets your expectations?  You do.  Where do your expectations come from?  Your beliefs.  So by exceeding your exceptions you automatically change your belief system.  What has to happen in this step is for you to recognize that your belief system has changed.  If you poo-poo your accomplishment in the pervious step, nothing inside will change.  By acknowledging what you accomplished, knowing that it is was all you…your belief system will change.

Own Your Breakthrough” – This may actually be the toughest step of all.  As a society we’re taught to be “humble”, don’t brag and keep your head down.  By owning your breakthrough you are stepping into your own personal power…the one you were born with…the one that is your inheritance…the power you deserve!  This has nothing to do with being humble or bragging.  It has everything to do with being your authentic self.  By owning your breakthrough you are acknowledging you are more then you ever thought you were. This personal power can then be applied to other areas of your life. When that happens…look out world!

Tony Robbins has done so much for so many people and I’m glad to see this special on TV and I’m looking forward to next week.
