Mental Strength Tip #113: Reprogramming Beliefs For Personal Success

Welcome back to another Mental Strength Tip!program your mind

Reaching your personal goals, achieving personal success and exceeding your human potential starts in your mind…and finishes with taking inspired and massive action.

This is one in a series of virtual personal coaching and mental strength tips to help kick-start your week.  It is intended to create self-empowerment and inspire you to take action so that you can reach your personal goals and personal success.

I take one mental strength tips and run though a brief overview of it, then ask some very direct coaching questions.  The intention of this virtual personal coaching session is for you to write and answer these questions in your success journal and then reflect on them to gain insight on yourself, your dreams and what’s holding you back.

Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To convince you that most, if not all of your beliefs were programmed into your subconsciousness during childhood. This happened well before you were able to make the distinction between empowering and limiting beliefs.

The objective here is the help you understand that any belief can be changed, removed or enhanced through mental strength reprogramming.

Let’s Get Started:

Identify a limiting belief: Take a few moments to think about beliefs you hold that might be holding you back.

It can be in the form “I am …” or just about the world in general. As long as you think it might be holding you back will work.

Remember, there is no true or false with beliefs, only supportive and unsupportive beliefs. Don’t worry about “truth”, and instead decide if it’s useful to you, or if a different belief would be more useful.

For example, you might believe that “The recession is a bad time to start a business”. That would definitely be more limiting than “There will always be demand for exceptional products and services.”

Take a few moments to pick a limiting belief.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • Do beliefs determine behaviors?
  • Do behaviors determine results?
  • Can long help beliefs be changed?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Mind Programming

  • Beliefs cannot be changed.
  • We are born with certain beliefs.
  • Beliefs have nothing to do with results.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Mind Programming

  • We adopt most of our beliefs from influential people during our childhood.
  • Our entire belief system can be reprogrammed.
  • Empowering beliefs lead to personal success.

Outrageous Questions:

  • Is the programming you received as a child helping you or hurting you in reaching your personal goals?
  • What steps are you taking to reprogram your limiting beliefs?
  • Would you be more successful if you were able to reprogram your thinking?

Reflective Questions:

  • How can I assist you in your reprogramming process?
  • How long do you believe it will take to reprogram your biggest limiting belief?
  • Could you enlist the help and support of other people to help you with your reprogramming?
    • Who are they?

Mental Strength Coaching:

One simple principle exists behind all successful belief change tactics. That one guiding principle behind all successful belief change is this: “Decide to change a belief, replace that belief with a better belief, and above all practice that new belief over and over in real life and imaginally until it feels natural and becomes a habit.”

Final Thought

It is the over and over practice of the better belief that makes or breaks belief change. There are dozens of so-called magical methods out there using all kinds of unrequired tactics from anchors to acupressure points. If these methods work it is because of the very non magical principle: “Decide to change a belief, replace that belief with a better belief, and above all practice that new belief over and over in real life and imaginally until it feels natural and becomes a habit.” Unless a belief approach contains practicing the new belief over and over it will not pass the test of time. The old belief will likely return.
