Objective of this Mental Strength Tip:

To help you learn to say no more often to time-consuming activities that do not produce significant results.

Let’s Get Started:

“No” is a word that can save you time, energy and precious resources when you know when and how to use it purposefully. But many people have a difficult time saying “no” because they sincerely want to help and don’t want to disappoint others.

So they take on more than they can handle, compromising the quality of performance, neglecting their own priorities, and burying themselves under mountains of responsibilities, tasks and activities that will never lead to their ultimate vision.

That’s why it’s important to know when to say “no” – so rather than react to other’s demands, you respond based on your values and priorities.

Questions to Uncover Beliefs about Mental Strength Thinking:

  • What does it mean to say no to people when they ask for your time?
  • Is it possible to be a good person and top performer and still say no?
  • Does doing everything your asked make you a nice person?

Unsupportive Beliefs about Saying No

  • It’s selfish to guard your time.
  • Saying no is uncaring.
  • Only self-centered people say no.

Mental Strength Beliefs about Saying No

  • Guarding your time means guarding your life.
  • Say no helps you control your time.
  • Saying no to time-wasting activates is an intelligent strategy.

Outrageous Questions:

  • What are two time-consuming activates in your life you could eliminate immediately?
  • Who do you need to become to say no more often?
  • What belief do you have to change to help you feel good about saying no?

Reflective Questions:

  • When you say yes to people who waste your time is it out of generosity or addition to their approval?
  • How would saying no more often help you move closer to your dreams?
  • Is it smarter to take care of your own needs first and then help others or vice versa?
    • Is this philosophy helping or hurting you?

Mental Strength Coaching:

People who play at the top of their game whether in business, sport or life, have learned how to either eliminate or reduce distractions by mastering the use of one simple word … “No.”

The inability and fear around using these two little letters has caused more home business failures, tears, stress, frustration and relationship troubles than any other.
